A curator and cultural instigator, I realise impactful, dynamic ideas. Over the last ten years I have worked on a number of independent curatorial projects in public galleries, commercial spaces and the public domain. These projects are often developed at a grass roots level, working with unconventional spaces, artist run organisations and artists from a range of disciplines and backgrounds–usually at the same time as my day job! In 2014 I curated Echo for Breezeblock, an artist run space in Kings Cross, with Tim Silver and Jonathan Jones. In 2011 I was invited to curate an exhibition of emerging artists for Stills Gallery, a contemporary photography gallery for which I put together Bad Angle. My first curated exhibition for a commercial space was for GRANTPIRRIE in 2005 with Brainstorms: momentary psychological disturbances. I set up and directed Terminus Projects from 2004-08 with the inspirational Sarah Rawlings, curating an ambitious program of site-specific public art around Sydney. As part of First Draft Gallery’s Emerging Curator’s Program, I curated Taint an exhibition that explored the continued legacy of minimalism in contemporary Australian art in 2010. Little Rituals was a project featuring 12 video artists from Australia and overseas projected in the Westpac Prism over the course of 12 months. To make a work of timeless art was an exhibition that considered the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Primavera acquisitions, a collection built around emerging practitioners that has been developed from the 1990s to the present.
